Squishy Stress Pet Crochet Pattern

  Squishy Stress Pets are the perfect quick makes for fellow crochet business owners! If you need fast, no-sew projects for your markets, these guys will quickly fill your empty shelves.
  I was a vendor for a market themed "Gifting Wellness", so I quickly designed these fellas to be the perfect size for squishing like a stress ball, but so much cuter! Surprisingly, my design was loved by customers at my markets, and other crocheters have been reaching out for the pattern. So here we are! Enjoy making flocks of these little guys!

Materials & Tools:

• Bernat Blanket yarn and a small amount worsted weight yarn in mouth color
• 10mm safety eyes
• Polyfil stuffing
• Size K 6.5mm crochet hook
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors
• Stitch marker

Abbreviations:

• SC: Single Crochet
• R: Round
• Rep: Repeat
• CH: Chain
• SL ST: Slip Stitch
• NUB: Nub stitch will be CH3, SL ST in 3rd CH from hook

Notes:

•  This pattern is worked in spirals, so do not SL ST and CH1 at the end of each round. Use stitch markers to mark beginning of rounds.
•  There is no increases or decreases in this pattern, there should always be 12 stitches at the end of each row. (You will not count the stitches from the nubs.)

• The finished size using Bernat Blanket yarn is about 4.5in long.

R1: CH7. Starting in 2nd CH from hook, SC1, NUB, SC4, NUB, SC1. Turn to work on other side of CH. SC6 (12)

R2-5: SC 4 rounds. (Make sure you crochet over the nubs but be careful not to SC in the CH stitch right before the arms otherwise you'll end up with 14 stitches.) (12)

R6: SC1, NUB, SC6, NUB, SC5 (12)

R7-8: SC 2 rounds (12)

R9: SC2, NUB, SC5, NUB, SC5 (12)

Add safety eyes on R8, 4 stitches apart. Add a mouth between eyes. Stuff generously and then whip stitch both sides of top together.
